Reflecting on 35 Years of Service

April 2, 2025, marks 35 years since I began my journey at Hardick Chiropractic Centre. It started humbly—as a chiropractic assistant, learning from my father and serving our patients in London. Eleven years later, on that very same date, I became a licensed chiropractor. Now, 24 years into practice, I’m more energized than ever about the future of chiropractic—and grateful for the privilege to care for this community.

Chiropractic Has Come a Long Way

When I first started, chiropractic was often seen as a last resort for back pain. Fast forward to today, and it’s a different story. Research continues to build, affirming the value of subluxation correction and its role in optimizing nervous system health. One standout study from Dr. Heidi Haavik and colleagues (2017) highlights how spinal adjustments positively impact brain-body communication.

Public interest reflects this shift. Over 50 million Americans and nearly 5 million Canadians now visit chiropractors every year (NBCE, 2020, CCA, 2023). Family-based care has expanded significantly, too, with pediatric chiropractic services accounting for more than 30 million visits annually in the U.S. and over 1.2 million in Canada (ICPA & CCA).

From Pain Relief to Wellness-Based Care

More people are recognizing that chiropractic isn’t just about pain—it’s about performance, prevention, and potential. The trend has moved strongly toward neurologically focused, wellness-based care. This is a movement I’ve proudly witnessed and supported firsthand through seminars, education, and everyday patient care.

Thank You, London

This journey has only been possible because of you—our patients, families, and community partners. I’m also thankful for our incredible team and for the enduring example set by my father, who once served as President of the College of Chiropractors of Ontario. From hosting natural health seminars in London to co-authoring Align Your Health and The MaxLiving Nutrition Plans, to welcoming world-class speakers to our city, it’s been a rich and rewarding path.

Looking Ahead

Being named Chiropractor of the Year 2024 by Life University was an incredible honour, but nothing compares to the day-to-day impact we can make in the office. The future of natural health is bright, and I believe chiropractic is at the center of it. I’m excited for what lies ahead—and I look forward to continuing to serve, grow, and thrive together.
