Fifty Years at Queens Avenue: A Legacy of Chiropractic Care in London

Hardick Chiropractic Centre marks a significant milestone in February 2026: fifty years of continuous service at its Queens Avenue location in downtown London, Ontario. While anniversaries often invite reflection, this milestone represents something deeper than longevity alone — it reflects continuity of care, commitment to principles, and a multi-generational dedication to health that has remained steady through decades of change.

The clinic’s roots in London date back to the summer of 1971, when Dr. Cliff Hardick, newly graduated from Logan College of Chiropractic, opened his first chiropractic practice on Clarence Avenue in London. In February 1976, he relocated the clinic to its current home at 331 Queens Avenue, intentionally maintaining a central location accessible to patients from across the city and region. That move established what would become one of London’s longest-standing family-operated services, and specifically, health care practices, in the downtown core.

At the time of the Queens Avenue opening, Dr. Cliff Hardick was joined in the practice by his younger brother, Dr. Robert Hardick, a recent graduate of Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. Together, they built a clinic grounded in traditional chiropractic principles — emphasizing careful assessment, structural evaluation, and specific spinal correction — an approach that continues to guide care today.

In April 2001, Dr. B.J. Hardick assumed ownership and operation of the clinic after graduating from Life University, the world’s largest single-campus chiropractic institution. Under his leadership, Hardick Chiropractic Centre has continued to evolve while remaining anchored in the same foundational approach that has guided the clinic since its earliest days.

That approach centres on careful assessment, specific chiropractic correction, and supporting nervous system function as the basis for long-term health. Over the years, new tools and technologies have been thoughtfully integrated into care where they enhance precision and outcomes, while the core methods and standards that define the clinic have remained consistent.

“Our responsibility is to do what works — and to do it well, year after year,” says Dr. B.J. Hardick. “We’ve always focused on delivering care that is deliberate, specific, and respectful of how the body is designed to function. That consistency is what families have relied on across generations.”

That foundation includes long-standing methods such as specific chiropractic X-ray analysis to evaluate alignment and function — a practice introduced to chiropractic by B.J. Palmer and maintained at Hardick Chiropractic Centre since its early years. Several chiropractic adjustment tables still in use today have served patients continuously since the clinic opened at Queens Avenue in 1976, reflecting an approach that values precision and purpose over constant reinvention.

The clinic’s influence extends beyond its walls. Dr. Cliff Hardick previously served as President of the College of Chiropractors of Ontario and was named Chiropractor of the Year in Canada in 1993. Dr. B.J. Hardick was recognized internationally as Chiropractor of the Year in 2024 and currently serves as a Trustee at Life University, contributing to chiropractic education and leadership on a global level.

Despite these accomplishments, the clinic’s focus remains local and personal.

“What matters most,” Dr. Hardick adds, “is the trust our patients place in us — sometimes across generations. Being able to serve individuals and families over decades is both a responsibility and a privilege.”

As Hardick Chiropractic Centre looks ahead, the milestone of fifty years at Queens Avenue is not viewed as a conclusion, but as a continuation — a reaffirmation of the values, care standards, and long-term relationships that have defined the clinic’s role in the London community since 1976.
